Juan Pablo Gómez Sánchez

Visiting & Students

I am a research assistant in the Memory and Language Lab, where I investigate bilingualism and gender. My work focuses on how grammatical gender influences speaker biases, using both behavioral and neurological approaches, including EEG, to better understand how these processes unfold. I examine these effects across English, Spanish, and Italian speakers to better understand cross-linguistic variation. I am particularly interested in expanding this line of research within the frameworks of embodied cognition and psycholinguistics, with the goal of deepening our understanding of how language structures shape thought and perception.
Originally from Florida, USA, I earned my bachelor’s degree at Florida State University, where I studied psychology and music. I am of Latino heritage, with family roots in Argentina and Peru, which has further shaped my interest in language, culture, and cognition.
