I graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology from the University of La Laguna and earned a Master in Neurocognitive Psychology from the University of Oldenburg. I research about linguistic factors of cognitive reserve during healthy aging. More specifically, I investigate whether bilingualism and reading experience can be used as proxies for cognitive reserve. For that purpose, I utilize (1) behavioral data of high-level executive processes during text comprehension and (2) neuroimaging techniques (EEG, fMRI and DWI) to decipher the neural basis for that protective role. Findings might help shed light on understanding cognitive reserve better and whether linguistic variables might be important proxies of cognitive protection during healthy aging.
