Writing is a fundamental skill in academic, professional, and social domains, and typing has become a primary mode of global communication central to academic performance and assessment. My research program aims to develop a comprehensive theoretical and empirical framework for written language processing, with a particular focus on bilingualism and learning difficulties. My work follows two main lines: (1) developmental and intervention-based research on writing difficulties in children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, and (2) experimental research on typing in adult bilinguals. During my PhD, I investigated how multiple languages interact during typing, demonstrating cross-linguistic coactivation and experience-dependent effects across different bilingual populations. As a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University (Canada), I expanded this work to include eye-tracking, ERP, and sociolinguistic approaches, contributing to projects on text comprehension, multilingual processing, and socially situated language use. I am currently based at the University of Granada (CIMCYC) as a recipient of the postdoctoral fellowship DGP_POST_2024_00364 (Junta de Andalucía / FSE+), where I am developing an integrated research program on writing and bilingualism across the lifespan. I actively collaborate with Bilingualism Matters and the Montréal Bilingualism Initiative (MoBI), promoting accessible dissemination of scientific knowledge on bilingualism for schools, families, professionals, and policymakers.

MEMBER OF BILINGUALISM MATTERS AT UGR (Since 2018)
How do several languages coexist in the brain? Transferring the investigation from the laboratory to the community (reference fct-19-15358; Grant for the promotion of scientific, technological and innovation culture. FECYT, 6000€)
Summary. The objective of this project is to share knowledge about language learning with the different social groups that experience the benefits and challenges of bilingualism in their daily lives. To achieve this purpose, we are carrying out several dissemination activities that will transfer our scientific knowledge to different groups in an innovative, simple and close way. A transversal objective of this project would be to reflect the relevance of women in science. We conducted the following events: Outreach events in educational centers including (i) workshops in educational centers, and (ii) webinar for families («One brain, two languages: myths and realities»). We also held several open days of our laboratories for different schools and families. In order to broaden our impact in online dissemination, we designed a series of scientific dissemination videos in which we deal with different topics in a rigorous and consistent tone. With this initiative, we generate a material easily accessible to the general population through our Youtube channel (In Spanish with English subtitles).
